Then came the various G google smartphones, Nexus, etc…and ANDROID.

Google then realized “Android Fragmentation” really is a problem and they bought MOTOROLA mobile division, not just for the hardware but very much for coveted patents, after they lost bids for some other lucrative patents (like Nortel’s patents).

HP may want to further help Google and Android if the price is right. Google may very well be interested in purchasing WebOS and acquiring all the Palm patents HP currently owns.

Google may wait to place official bid on T-mobile since what’s the point of driving up the price if government regulatory measures may take AT&T out of the bidding wars? Many think the ATT and T-mobile deal may fall through, with government regulators citing antitrust monopoly fears if they allow it since then they would have a very hard time not allowing Verizon to buyout Sprint which would be the next logical move by the big guys.

If ATT is allowed to buy T-mobile then we’ll have only two major cellphone carriers after Verizon absorbs Sprint PCS. Whereas they would be much more inclined to allow another additional player to enter the business, ie Google. Then Google could bolster T-mobile and they could easily deny any potential Verizon bid or takeover of SPRINT. The end result would be best for everyone, there would still be THREE strong major cellphone carriers to foster good competition, well unless they like playing under the table with each other as LCD panel makers, graphics cards manufacturers and others have been known to do to “fix” prices higher on clueless consumers. (Sure government regulatory divisions love to fine them for such conspiracies, and they do, in the millions of dollars albeit a slam on the wrist considering the profits made by price fixing. It seems to be more of a mutually beneficial symbiotic relationship though between these giant law breakers and the regulatory institutions.)

But don’t fight the Google, resistance is futile!

And they’re not so bad either, when’s the last time facebook gave you even a penny for all the advertisement money they made off you? At least google spreads some of the love around!

Keen an eye out on ebay as greedy merchants and BestBuy and other employees try to unload their hoarded stash of $99 HP Touchpads at a nice profit.

Many merchants have decided not to sell their stock at the $99 price, Newegg has said they won’t be selling it at the discounted price, many wonder if they will send it off to HP or what they’ll do with their stock of touchpads, its anybody’s guess what all the merchants out there will do. Some might decline new shipments due them for various reasons.

The smart buyer will refrain from paying more than $99 and not be tempted by the scalping on ebay and other sites. Be especially cautious for fake phishing scam sites setup to lure in the desperate pad chasers.

HP will likely try and sell this off as meaning there’s still interest in WebOS and try to dangle some of their PALM patents in front of GOOGLE for a nice sell and profit, they figure they’ll make up the loss on the $99 devices from selling off whatever patent portfolio they got from acquiring Palm.

Do yourselves a favor and find another $99 toy and start getting some sleep instead of hitting F5 nonstop on every touchpad distributor’s site or wasting hundreds on gas money driving to all the BestBuys, Sams Clubs, and Walmarts in your state! It’s an addiction, and another cool nice $99 toy will cure you, try it!

Everyone’s waiting to hear news of the last remaining batches of HP Touchpads slated for delivery to distribution centers. Stores seem to be very tempted to use fake in stock numbers to perhaps gain new customer data, email addresses, house addresses and other valuable info which might help them turn a bargain hunter into a real profitable customer for them.

The web is full of complaints with stores canceling orders in mass, claiming some inventory accounting error, but which errors were deliberate and which were honest? Most high volume distributors have pretty good inventory accounting methods and the opportunity to grab MILLIONS of potential customer data might be very enticing.

Of course there are plain phishing websites popping up just to steal credit card numbers from the naive desperately trying to score a bargain. Interestingly many customers, and in reality ‘potential’ or would-be customers since we have no real numbers as to how many HP Touchpads were really sold at the $99 and $149 dollar discounted price, many of these customers never had much interest in a tablet before, some are not even too techy, they are simply addicted bargain hunters. For some its an unending obsession at finding the craziest ‘deal’ whether for bragging rights or to fulfill the scrooge within.

Either way, perhaps we shouldn’t let them down? How about posting on here the location of any store or website that has some more HP touchpads in stock? Yep, can do! : )

HP does want to prolong the frenzy instead of dropping them all in one batch, they will have another batch or two coming.

Keep in mind many stores will prefer to force people to come down to their store in person instead of giving the deals their online websites. This means you may have to hit all your local stores in person if you’re really desperate. They like to force you to come since if they do run out of stock, they have a chance to sell you something else since who doesn’t like a good ice cream when they’re depressed and exhausted? After the let down on the HP Touchpads, they can show you some other ‘deals’ on the products they do have in stock and many times you buy because you dread going back home empty handed! You want some new toy to tinker with

Congress is being asked to sign into LAW, legislation to force the US to abide by “International Treaties”. It could be argued that consular access for foreigners is a great thing, and no American is against the US government or states passing such a law of their own accord.

Yet many are against the idea of passing legislation forcing the US, a sovereign nation, to subjugate itself to Treaties/Laws/Legislation created by International countries/groups.

Americans are happy to allow consular access to foreigners accused of crimes and ask other countries to do the same for Americans arrested abroad. It appears that in the case of Humberto Leal, that he chose to pretend he was a US citizen thinking he would have greater protection and ended up being completely wrong, he would have been better off admitting immediately that he was an illegal, even though he had been living in the US since he was about 2 years old. Also, apparently it’s considered ‘racism/profiling’ etc for authorities to ask his citizenship status.

The legislation to be introduced appears to not only be able to buy a lot of time for Humberto Leal, but possibly overturn his death penalty since it has been said it would make the death penalty illegal for any foreigner, legal or illegal, who had been convicted without having been given the opportunity to speak to to his country’s consulate whether he asked for it or not.

The biggest problem facing the white house is that no one is contesting Humberto Leal’s guilt. His guilt is considered fact, that he did indeed abduct the 16 year old girl from the party, violently raped her and then murdered her by smashing her head in with a big 30 pound chunk of asphalt. Humberto Leal’s brother had apparently come to the party asking about a girl, saying that his brother came bloody and saying he had killed a girl.

It was later revealed her body had his bite-marks on her. Because of the iron-clad case against Humbero Leal, the defense’s notion that had he been allowed to contact the Mexican consulate, he might never have been convicted or at least gotten away from the death penalty, gives little reason to the Texas governor to delay or stop the execution. Had there been even the smallest possibility that he was innocent, things would be different.

The bigger issue the federal government is facing is pressure from all these anti-death penalty governments such as Mexico that would like to make sure that their citizens never face the death penalty in the US regardless of their crimes and US federal or states’ laws.

Many or most states, Texas for sure, would claim sovereignty and say they could voluntarily enact laws themselves to allow consular access but would claim International Courts/Law has no binding authority over them even if the federal government accepts them as binding.

The Humberto Leal case has really brought to light, and possible additional scrutiny any pending Congressional legislation that may be seen to undermine US national sovereignty or states’ rights. It will be interesting to see whether the plea to stop his execution and the reasoning behind it will work towards gaining support for its signing or if the spotlight turns from Humberto to the actual words of the legislation and its implications.

Also, perhaps Texas would have been more willing to delay the execution if it had been given assurances the federal government and any legislation that would pass, would not try to prevent them from ultimately carrying out the execution as soon as all the papers were folded.

Humberto Leal has been on deathrow for 15 years, he was born in 1973 and committed the rape and murder in 1994.

Below is one of his Pen Pal request letters that was taken from an anti-death penalty group with website deathrow-usa.us

I’m kind of amazed at how so many people bought into the stupid technology talks behind Apple and Steve Job’s decisions. The superiority of one technology over another has absolutely nothing to do with their decisions against Flash or Java or Admob or anything else they’ve gone against.

It’s purely about creating a monopoly and killing the competition. Just think of it, if they allowed Adobe Flash or JAVA on their iPhones, tons and tons of Games and Applications could be run from INSIDE a Browser, no need to pay Apple to put an App in their App store. By simply killing Java and Flash, Apple has prevented millions of browser Apps from doing business as usual, as on the Desktop, through web browsers. In one easy stroke of the pen, everyone must know pay Apple to get on their App store and keep giving Apple a good percentage of their profits. Now they can force all those online content providers to go through them on the App Store to reach their customers on the iphone or iPad.

Perhaps you’re in a board meeting and can’t fiddle with finding some microscopic keys on your software keyboard!? It’s simple with the “Doodle Text!” Android App available on the Android Marketplace from http://www.doodletext.com

Doodle Text - http://www.doodletext.com

Well then just Doodle Text! Yes Doodle Text for Android comes to the rescue with an easy way to doodle an quick short answer on your phone and easily send it via MMS sms picture messaging. MMS stands for MultiMedia Message Service, while SMS was simply Short Message Service which supported just text. With Doodle Text you can quickly and easily text doodle photo messages. Just draw or write with your finger quickly and hit send. We do hope they offer a paid version soon without advertising but who can complain about free!

Another great feature is it can let you send text messages from an office with bad phone reception, it can send texts over a WiFi wireless connection instead of the phone network, and this also means you can send out unlimited doodle mms messages for free.

Doodle Text! - App for Android phones screenshot

For those who like drawing, painting it has some pretty cool effects also. You have a lot of freedom customizing effects and its really fun, you simply do a long click for a couple seconds on one of the effects which takes you to the customization options. The shader effect lets you choose two different colors to draw with in an interesting way, like candy canes and you can even select two effects and combine them together for even more interesting effects.

So perhaps when you’re also taking a break from Angry Birds, you’ll do some Doodle Texting!

It is tragic that the Japanese people may be exposed to more long lasting radiation from their own nuclear crisis than from the atomic bombs dropped on them in World War II at Nagasaki and Hiroshima. A nuclear reactor leak can give off 1000 times the radiation of an atomic bomb explosion.

Nuclear experts from the United States are en-route to Japan (as of Wednesday). Satellite images show the tremendous damage to the reactors. A helicopter attempt to drop water in one of the reactors did not work or was averted due to dangerously high radiation levels. They plan to even attempt to use water cannons used for riots to try and get some water into the reactor. It appears that heat has been rising in the other two reactors meaning perhaps all 6 Fukushima reactors are at risk. Workers had to be completely evacuated from the site for some time due to rising radiation levels. The winds have helped somewhat by blowing a lot of the radiation plumes eastward into the Pacific ocean, yes toward the North American continent, Canada and the United States where people are already buying KI/iodine tablets in mass fearing nuclear fallout from Japan may hit the West Coast of the US and Canada.

Though three other Japanese nuclear complexes were also damaged, the Dai-ichi complex just off the Pacific coast has everyone’s eyes on it with its four severely affected reactors.
Japanese authorities now list six reactors at Fukushima I and nearby Fukushima II in a state of emergency. Almost a dozen reactors in total were knocked out of service due to the quake and tsunami crippling Japan’s power grid.

Workers at the Nuclear Plant were forced to evacuate due to unsafe radiation levels, no one knew what was really happening to the affected cores but most experts said they should assume they were melting. “Although we cannot directly check it, it’s highly likely happening (fuel rods melting),” Cheif Cabinet Secretary Yuko Edano reported. Over 140,000 people within 30 kilometers of the plant were ordered to seal themselves indoors to avoid exposure (70,000 within a 20 km radius were evacuated) and commercial flights through the area were banned. “Do not go outside. Please stay indoors. Please close windows and make your homes airtight” was the official message to citizens within 30 km. Previously, Saturday’s hydrogen and oxygen blast had destroyed the housing around the plant’s Unit 1 reactor causing mass evacuations of over 185,000 people in the area. (Pumping seawater as a last resort was known to likely cause explosions but was considered the only option to avoid complete Chernobyl scale meltdown.)

Could the RADIATION reach the West Coast of the United States and Canada riding on the Pacific Jet Stream that airline pilots use to save on jet fuel?

A third explosion at the Fukushima Dai-ichi nuclear plant Unit 3 where two other reactor buildings exploded injuring 11 workers, blasting a 26 foot hole and damaged a vessel below the reactor, hours later a fire ignited at a fourth reactor which was offline along with yet another fire in a pool with used/spent fuel rods in Unit 4’s strage pool while workers were frantically trying to pump seawater to cool the fuel rods in the other three compromised reactors. Helicopters may be needed to get water into the damaged Unit 4 reactor. About 70 overworked plant operators struggled with the emergency while being rotated in and out of the intense radiation to try and minimize exposure.
Experts were afraid and assumed the possibility of a meltdown at reactor Unit 1 and Unit 3 at Fukushima I plant but there was no way of knowing what was going on inside the core containment shell to know for sure due to the damage already caused.
Radiation was spewing from 4 out of 6 of the nuclear power plant’s reactors. The fire in a pool were used nuclear fuel rods were stored was releasing radiactivity directly into the atmosphere. Unit 2 may leak even more dangerous levels of radiation if the storage pond boils away and the fuel rods are exposed. Also, in the so far unaffected Units 5 and 6, temperatures were somewhat elevated. Japan’s government spokesman admitted the radiation did pose risks to public health but that they were diminished farther from the plant. The radiation was 400 times the amount a person might receive in an entire year meaning even brief exposure is extremely dangerous since less than 10 hours exposure would be lethal which for some might be better than prolonged suffering. Radiation levels in Tokyo, 170 miles away government authorities said were 9 times higher than normal but said weather was helping blow potential radiation out into the Pacific Ocean.

The U.S. Navy moved some of its ships farther west from Japan’s shores to stay clear of the radiation plume, one ship had detected radiation levels south of Tokyo. U.S. military helicopters returning to their ships with the 7th Fleet registered some radioactive contamination and 17 personnel on the USS Ronald Reagan aircraft carrier 160 km offshore who were involved in helicopter relief missions underwent a scrub-down to clean off any radiation, the carrier and 7th Fleet then moved farther away from Japan’s coast due to radiation.

A tide of dead people washed up on Japan’s coast Monday overwhelming crematoriums.
Although officials have only conclusively confirmed around 3,500 deaths, over 10,000 people are believed to have perished due to the earthquake and tsunami and almost half a million people are in temporary shelters. On the coast in Miyagi, an official said 1,000 bodies were found, a news agency reported 2,000 bodies had washed up on two shores in Miyagi. In Myagi, the police chief estimated that likely 10,000 people perished in his province so the total death in Japan must be higher than initially thought.
Millions of Japanese went without food or water and no gas or electricity along the frigid near-freezing northeast coast for five days. Gasoline lines where it could be had were 5 hours long. In Soma, a town in the Fukushima prefecture, sirens wailed forcing soldiers to abandon their search and rescue operations fearing other quakes and tsunamis since the ground has not stopped shaking, there have been a tremendous number of aftershocks some as high as 6.2 on the Richter scale. For some the devastation may be double, decimation by the tsunami and longer nuclear radiation effects due to their proximity to the Fukushima Dai-ichi nuclear plant.

Japan’s central bank scrambled to bolster Japan’s economy by following U.S. measures and dumping $184 billion into money markets (15 trillion yen). Damages from the earthquake and tsunami are estimated at 20 to 50 billion dollars if not more considering the nuclear disaster.

Japan’s earthquake which many places had reported as 8.8 or 8.9 magnitude was upgraded to 9.0 magnitude (1.5x stronger than 8.9), first by Japanese experts at Japan’s Meteorological Agency and then by the USGS (US Geological Survey). The earthquake tore 15 miles below the sea floor, making a rift stretching 186 miles long and 93 miles wide. It moved Japan 13 feet closer to the United States, and sank it two feet allowing tsunami waves to advance further inland. The quake also shifted the earth’s axis 6.5 inches making the earth spin a bit faster and shortening the day by 1.6 microseconds. The 2004 Sumatra 9.1 earthquake shortened the day by 6.8 microseconds.
The Japan earthquake is number 4 on list of world’s largest quakes since 1900.

Radiation first affects the intestinal system causing nausea, vomiting, diarrhea, weakness, and even death. The thyroid is also affected soon after and is the reason people are given iodine tablets, so as to lessen the impact and provide the thyroid clean iodine to absorb versus the radiation laden iodine from the nuclear fallout. (Wine supposedly helps somewhat also due to the tannins, but then any strong anti-oxidants should help.)

Other symptoms include loss of appetite, red itchy skin, sore mouth and throat, anemia, hair loss, bleeding, recurrent infections, and of course all kinds of cancers if not exposed to high enough levels to cause death in days or weeks.
